Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors
The UMW Reading Program is a means to broaden our understanding and sensitivities to the needs and concerns of all persons in today's world.  By offering a diverse listing of books, the program allows for a variety of ways to grow and mature in our Christian faith.  In addition to the books, the program includes the two magazines published by the General Board of Global Ministries.  Response Magazine is the official magazine of the UMW and New World Outlook is the mission magazine of the United Methodist Church.
About the Books
The Women's Division of the United Methodist Church provides an annual selection of member reviewed books for the Reading List.  These books are categorized into the following five categories:
  • Education for Mission
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Social Action
  • Nuturing for Community
  • Leadership Development

Reading Plans

UMW encourages members to participate in the Reading Program by choosing one of the four reading plans.
The basic reading program award is 5 books, one from each category.
Bonus books count as two, covering two categories.
By completing one of the four plans, you can earn an official UMW Reading Certificate.
Our deadline to report for 2016 Reading Awards is the end of July, so please let Anne know the books you have or will read for 2016.
